La Bánksia is housed within a traditional Casona originally constructed in 1922. The property was transformed into a unique hotel after a painstaking restoration undertaken by the Australian owner. Honouring the building’s history, the bespoke renovation has preserved the original architectural details of the building while adding contemporary touches to create an elegant yet cosy ambiance. After a hard day travelling, the soothing stream of water from our rain-showers is guaranteed to revive you. Our owner designed and commissioned furniture has been hand crafted with iron frames and recycled timber flooring from the original construction. We take pride in providing comfort as well as service. We offer locally made toiletries, fluffy white towels, and a hairdryer, (an iron is also available on premises), ensuring your comfort and convenience during your stay.

La Bánksia Hotel is the realization of a decade-long dream and five dedicated years of restoration work on a century-old post-colonial house in the traditional sector of La Loma Grande, overseen by its passionate Australian owner. This meticulous process involved renovating the entire house, carefully restoring the original damaged parquetry flooring, and crafting bespoke furniture pieces and finishings that truly embody the essence of La Bánksia's concept. Positioned as a botanical oasis in the heart of Quito's Centro Histórico, the hotel boasts a lush garden retreat and an abundance of indoor plants, lending the space a refreshing and inviting ambiance. Sarah, the owner, wants for you to enjoy the space as much as she intended for it to be—a place of utmost relaxation and comfort.
